Why We’re The Most Sort After Therapy Practice

Therapy Services

We help people to cope more effectively with a wide range of personal problems, relationship difficulties, and work-related concerns. We listen, provide support, and work with you to develop goals and a plan for treatment. A strong evidence base underpins all the therapies that are used in our practice. Our different therapies are as discussed below

We tailor our approach according to your needs using several Therapy Theories such as:

  • Individual theories that treat a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and insomnia. We focuses on patterns of behavior and thinking, with the goal of helping you to think clearly and develop effective coping strategies.
  • We also recognize and address the significant impact of interpersonal relationships on a person’s wellbeing especially when it results in depression and low self-esteem. Within this framework solutions are explored to address the challenges of social isolation, life transitions, grief and interpersonal conflict.
  • Look at family of origin, human behavior that views the family as an emotional unit and uses systems thinking to describe the complex interactions in the unit.
  • It is the nature of a family that its members are intensely connected emotionally. This is often a longer-term therapy in which problems are understood in light of childhood experiences and other important relationships in later life, family dynamics and the individual’s place in the wider community.
  • Both mindfulness and relaxation training teach strategies which assist with managing anxiety, depression, stress, sleeping difficulties and pain. Relaxation training uses techniques such as visualization, auto-suggestion and body awareness to help you to decrease the impact of stress and anxiety on your mind and body. It is often used as an adjunct to other therapies such as CBT.

Therapy with Adolescents and Confidentiality

  • Parents are usually seen first to speak about their concerns for the child and to outline the child’s developmental history. Then the child or young person is seen either in the company of a parent or alone. A feedback session is held with parents to agree with the therapist on how to proceed.
  • Some issues can be resolved through Parent Management Training and Psycho-Education with parents’ increased understanding of their child’s developmental needs. Therapy usually involves a combination of work with the parents around management issues, as well as individual work with the child.
  • Psychotherapy with older children and adolescents is mainly talking therapy as with adults.
  • Confidentiality is an important issue at this age, so if parents are seen, the young person should have agreed to this and may often accompany the parents to such sessions.

Collaborative Therapy

  • Therapy with children and adolescents involves the therapists working collaboratively with the parents and young people in determining the goals for the work and the approach to take. In some cases this may involve one therapist working with parents and another therapist working with the adolescent.

Parent Management Training

  • Parents face many challenges raising children. Parent training involves collaborating with parents to understand and identify what factors underlie their child’s behavior, how to challenge unhelpful beliefs, and

how to further develop the parent-child relationship, all the while recognizing parents’ strengths, with the goal of developing pro-social child behavior and more satisfying parenting and family relationships.

The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.

  • Relationship therapy aims to help couples to build healthier relationships and to reach a greater understanding and intimacy. There is a Focus on Emotion, an emphasis on communication and on identifying and changing repeating negative patterns of thinking and behaving. This helps people to build skills so that they are able to discuss and negotiate relational issues with greater clarity, respect and integrity.
  • Relationship counselling can extend beyond the couple to issues that need to be addressed between family members (usually 2) of the extended family such as parent / child; or siblings.
